The Heide Lodge met Hottub | 5 persons is a detached, single-storey lodge that feels like it was made for slowing down. With 55 m² of living space, two bedrooms and a spacious enclosed garden, there is plenty of room for a small group to settle in properly. The wood-fired Hottub in the garden is the heart of the stay. The firewood is ready and waiting when you arrive, and as the flames catch and the water begins to warm, the holiday truly begins. No bubble function, but warmth of a different kind entirely.

Inside, a stylish open-plan living area with an electric fireplace and a generous corner sofa invites you to spend long evenings in good company. The fully equipped kitchen includes an induction hob, dishwasher, combination microwave and fridge-freezer, so cooking in is just as easy as heading to Brasserie Luwe for a drink and something to eat. The two bedrooms are fitted with comfortable box spring beds: one room with two beds pushed together and one with a single bed plus bunk bed, a practical setup for a family or small group of friends. The lodge is completely gas-free and built sustainably, with air conditioning that also functions as heating, a water-saving showerhead, and a walk-in shower. Free WiFi, a Smart TV with streaming, both a Nespresso and Senseo coffee maker, and fly screens for fresh summer nights round out the details.

Park Berkenrhode: small-scale, warm and surrounded by nature

Park Berkenrhode is a luxury, small-scale holiday park on the edge of the Veluwe forests. The atmosphere here is one of calm and genuine hospitality, from the well-kept accommodations to the friendly welcome you receive on arrival. Walking and cycling routes start practically at your doorstep. Hire an e-chopper, electric scooter or regular bicycle and explore the area at your own pace. After a day outdoors, Brasserie Luwe is the perfect place for lunch, an afternoon drink or dinner. The park also offers a heated outdoor swimming pool, a snack bar, outdoor playgrounds, a launderette, a Dog Wash station and a breakfast and bread roll delivery service. Everything is taken care of so you can focus on enjoying your time away.

Veluwe: forest, heathland and a silence you can almost hear

The Veluwe is one of the most beautiful nature reserves in the Netherlands, and from Park Berkenrhode you are right in the middle of it. Expansive forests, open heathlands and drifting sand alternate with the changing seasons. In autumn everything turns gold and purple, in spring the green closes in around you. Along the way you might spot a deer between the trees or hear a woodpecker at work. Whether you head out for a gentle morning walk or a long cycling route, the Veluwe gives you all the space you need to breathe.

• The wood-fired Hottub takes 3 to 4 hours to heat up. Firewood is ready at your arrival. Your presence is required when lighting the Hottub. Instructions are available in the Berkenrhode app.
